THAI TRADITIONAL MASSAGE
The roots of this
“Ancient Yoga Massage” lie in India.
The teachings of Kumar Bhaccha, physician & founder of the art,
reached what is now Thailand at the sametime as Buddhism – as early as the 3d
or 2nd century B.C.
Thai massage based on the
concept of invisible energy lines running through the body on which there are
important acupressure points corresponding to all the internal organs , glands,
muscles and nerves in the human system.
Pressing these points breaks the blockages along the body and stimulates
the free flow of life energy.
There is kneeling,
palming, thumbing and rocking applied alone the meridians to extremities of the
body: feet, legs and thighs, hands and arms to ground and connect the
left/right sides and lower/upper parts of the body. All body parts are being treated to balance and restore the
energy including neck, shoulders, back, chest, stomach and abdomen. There is a gentle healing pressure applied
on the head, skull and face.
There are stretches and exercises
involved which might be described as “applied physical yoga” where all of the
beautiful postures are used.
The use of therapeutic
points and lines gives some specific treatment for certain diseases and
relieving the pain. There are feet
applied on the back, thighs and legs.
